I actually enjoyed smoking. For me it was my alone time. But I knew I had to stop.
The motivation I needed came in the form of a STOPtober challenge against another bar manager, and that together with my health and desire to stop smoking, has helped me to remain smoke free since October 1.
I smoked about 15 a day for 15 years. I just started one day and that was it, although I could go days without a cigarette and it didn’t seem to worry me.
I’ve been using patches and lozenges and I’ve had no cravings, no withdrawals, and no desire to go back. I had a puff recently and it was disgusting.
I’m sleeping better now and I have more energy.
Nga Kete’s Southern Stop Smoking team have helped to support me on the journey and they’ve been great motivators.
I don’t miss smoking at all.
