My name is Marie Rickard and, through a friend, I was referred to Nga Kete’s Pregnancy and Parenting Service.
I was pregnant with my fifth child and concerned about breastfeeding as I had always struggled. I was determined to get as much help as I possibly could this time round.
Deli Diack, of the Pregnancy and Parenting service, went above and beyond and made the entire process much easier. I felt comfortable with her and I just wish I had known about this service sooner!
Deli brought conversation, advice and information and although I had tons of support from family and friends, it felt great to have that extra support. I could sit down and talk with her about anything.
She even organized Bellyful to do meals for me and referred me to Rongoa at He Puna Waiora Wellness Centre, which has been amazing.
I have so much respect and gratitude for this service and I have been, and will continue, to recommend it to others.
About the service: Deli Diack is a qualified child birth educator and assessor for the New Zealand Breast Feeding Authority. She works alongside midwives and supports pregnant women and dad’s, and if required the whole whanau, around practical solutions to pregnancy and parenting challenges, breastfeeding and stop smoking support, access to local pregnancy and parenting services, one-on-one support, advocacy: linkage and connection to other service and ongoing support.
It’s about enabling, encouraging, and enhancing the journey through parenting. It’s about building resilience and confidence to be the best parents they can be.
Deli describes the service as unique because she has the time to listen. “If a mummy needs support for more than an hour a week, that’s what she’ll get.”
