The four students enjoyed a pizza-filled celebration yesterday, organized by the school, to celebrate their new smoke free lives and completion of the programme.
The group came together through a weekly support network set up by the Southern Stop Smoking Service, which commenced on 13 March. The students participated in the group voluntarily, which the school allowed to take place during school hours.
Southern Stop Smoking Service Manager Maria Colligan-Haggart says the students have done very well to remain smoke free.
“We acknowledge how hard it is to stop smoking, and to remain smoke free. Well done! The students are great role models for other young students striving to become smoke free.”
The Southern Stop Smoking Service is working towards providing further support in schools across the Southern Region.
